I don't usually like to devulge my personal life but sometimes it helps to write about things in order to
get them off my chest and off my mind.I watch alot of true crime programs. That's one of the great things about satellite T.V.,the choices of different programming.I watched the story of serial
killer Wurnos, the first women serial killer What totally stunned me was the parallel of our lives.I had a mother who not only emotionally abused me but pysically abused me.I never got along with
this woman. She left my brothers and I when I was 12 and her son,my half brother was 13.As I look back,I see how she favored the son she concieved with a convict before she married my dad.I was
out on my own at 13.I got involved with drugs and the street life.I ended up doing 6 mos. in juvenile hall.Got pregnant when I got out,was forced to go back to this woman and her worthless
younger husband.4mos later she threw me and my brothers out again.Only this time I was 7 mos. pregnant.I had the chance to ask her a few years ago,why she left us.She blamed it on my fathers
family, saying they had made death threats against her.I know that was a lie,my step father was not respected by her children. She picked him over us.I spent almost 1000.00 going to Texas to see
this woman after almost 20 years.I had always thought that when you go to visit someone it is customary to show them around. Is'nt it?I spent 2 and 1/2 weeks in Texas, and never saw one thing
except the corner store.I could have stayed home and used the thousand on my two kids here in California.I don't have money like that.it was part of a settlement.I feel like just burning the
money would have given me more satisfaction than going to Texas had.I was able to forgive her,she never said she was sorry. It was everyone elses fault for what she did to her kids.It was my fault
she treated me like she did.I do not call her mom,and I cannot say I consider her any type of a friend. She certianly was never a mother to me.I let go of the hate I had for her,now I just feel
pity for her.Her own brother diowned her for what she did to her kids. And she cannot admit that. She claims ignorance as to why he refused to have anything to do with her.Sad thing is,she thinks
no one knows why either, but they do.Just as I do.I guess what I'm feeling is that it's ok now.Ok to cut her out of my life.I have finally come to terms with the fact that I never will have the
kind of mother you read about. The friend, the one person who loves you no matter what. She is not capable of those feelings.I can let go and know that it was never my fault. It was always her
loss.

There have been more recalls on dogfood. Not as much as before, but still a recall is a recall.I've been
feeding Gracie homemade dogfood for some time.I do buy dogfood but I buy it from a company that sells only thru distributors. It is called "NATURE'S SELECT".And it is made without fillers and all
the unpronouncable items that other dogfoods have.I read labels for food that I am going to eat.Why would I not read labels on food that Gracie is going to eat.I do not eat beef, and I do not give
Gracie beef either.I rely on Chicken quite a bit. But,I also give Gracie Sardines and Tuna as well as Brown Rice,Sweet Potatoes,Corn and any other vegetable I can bribe her to eat.She loves the rice
and the sweet potatoes. But,other veggies are not easy for me to get her to eat.I buy Chicken Livers and cook them in Chicken Broth.I boil, not fry.I mix the BROWN RICE and SWEET POTATOES with the
CHICKEN LIVERS.Mixing all of this together and then putting some DOG KIBBLE with it makes a meal that has protein and less fat than most meals.Gracie is a very picky eater.I have become pretty
adept at figuring out what she will and will not eat.Dog Treats are in the same boat. There are few that I will buy because of what is in them. You have to read the labels! It does not take alot of
time to make this food,45min. to an hour. And you can always make more and freeze it for later in the week.If you still want to buy packaged dogfood, read the labels. If you can't pronounce the word
would you want to take the chance of giving it to your dog?

These are one of Gracie's favorite treats. They run from around 1.45 to 2.15,depending on where you buy them. They also come in different flavors.Bacon,Chicken and beef.I get the bacon flavor for
Grace. They are easy to give, soft but not overly so.I usually get a couple of packages.
Some people make a big deal about treats. They imply that you should only give treats when your dog does something incredible.I give Gacie treats when I have to leave her home while I run errands.I
also NEVER come home without getting something for Gracie. She is my child, and yes she is spoiled.I have no children so I guess she takes that spot. But,I also know that she is a dog.She takes care
of me mentally,by listening tome, loving me without asking for anything in return.I don't dress Gracie up in people clothes.I don't think she'd go for that.I'm not putting those who do dress their
dogs,I just choose not to.But,I do talk to her and I adjust my schedule for Gracie.Treats are a part of Gracie's daily life,so I do my best to pick those treats that do not have alot of fillers or
by-products.You read thelabels for your food, why would you not do the same for your dog.You would not believe the garbage that goes into some of the popular dog foods. If you read a label and your
not sure what is what,do not buy the food until you check out what you don't understand.Would you believe that alot of what goes into dog food comes from Rendering plants and that what goes to
those rendering plants are dead animals.Dogs,cats,cows,ect.Most of these animals have died from illness, cancer is one illness. Some come from your local vet.Animals that have been put down because
of old age,car accidents ect.If you've ever left your dead pet with your vet,to be disposed of,Fido more than likely became dog food. They don't even bother to take flea collers off.Think about that
the next time you buy you dog food.Thats what meat by products are.Rendered dead animals.

I've been a little under the weather the last couple of months or so.So,blog posts have taken a back burner. Now that I'm back,I will be
reviewing alot more doggie products.
It helps that I finally purchased a camcorder/digital camera.

Taking photos and video
just got soo easy for me.Gracie made her annual Vet visit.I take her to the SPCA where I adopted her.Which, personally is not my first choice. But anyone who has a dog or cat for that matter, knows
how expensive vet bills can be.Although the fees at the local SPCA are very reasonable,I felt like the vet was pushing this flea/heartworm medication on me a little too aggressively.I had Gracie
tested for heartworms, and when she came back negative I of course wanted to start her on preventive medication.I'm pretty through in my care of Gracie.I check her at least every other day for
fleas, ticks, scrathes ect.Gracie has never had a flea.I have given her the flea medication since she was of age.I admit I do not buy the pills, but,I do buy the liquid repellent and administer it on
the same day every month.I have had dogs all my life,so I'm pretty sure I know what a flea looks like.I was not impressed with the SPCA vet.He assured me that all dogs have fleas, even if I have
never seen one,he knew what he was talking about,he was a vet right? He kept pushing this medication on me,saying basically that if I really loved my dog, this was the only medication I should
buy. What a load of crap.I know my dog,I live with her 24/7.I am not stupid and I resent being talked to like I am.He also told me that the rep for this medication had been to the clinic two weeks
before. Now it was making sense.KICKBACK.The SPCA clinic is most likely getting some sort of kickback for every package sold.Another thing that really bother me,he really did'nt exam Gracie as well
as he should have.I spent 160.00 at this visit, which in itself is reasonable. But,I think for Gracie next vet visit I am going to ask for one of the other vets.I love my girl, that's why she gets
check ups. Some people cannot afford even the yearly visit,I myself had to save for a couple of months. It does not mean that people who cannot afford a vet visit love their pet any less.People are
spending big money on their pets now days.I would hope that every town has access to low cost vet services. There is nothing sadder than losing your dog/cat because you were unable to afford the vet
bill.

I am pretty picky when it comes to feding Gracie.I read labels on my own food,so why would'nt I do the
same thing for Gracie.I have watched videos of what happens at rendering plants. For those of you who don't know what a rendering plant is let me clue you in.When your dog dies at the vets, you
most likely let the vet take care of the disposal of the body.NEVER,EVER DO THIS!!!!Take your pets remains home. Why?You love your pet right? For tose pets that the vet is left with, they are picked
up by a huge truck, put into a barrel and then taken to the rendering plant. To be chopped, smashed, crushed with flea coller on,and made into a mush with hundreds of other dogs. This is no called
meat by products and dog food producers buy this mush to put into dog and cat food. What is really scary is these dogs have died of cancer, and other illnesses. And they are putting it in a food
that you will buy and feed your new dog. This is Not healthy food.I refuse to feed Gracie 90% of the dog food that is for sale in stores.I do buy all natural foods with NO BY PRODUCTS.There are a
few good dog foods around, but you must do your homework.I have been buying dog food from NATURE'S SELECT.It is a little bit more expensive than most foods. But,the food is 100% natural and they
deliver to my home.Gracie loves the ELK JERKY.I usually get the CHICKEN WITH SALMON OIL,but this time I bought the CHICKEN,BEEF AND SALMON OIL 20lbs.Gracie will actually eat this food. She loves
it.I never give Gracie beef.It is usually chicken that she gets.Chicken livers are a favorite for her.As I said you really have to do your home work on what you give your dog.A quick meal for
Gracie is brown rice, sweet potatoes and chicken livers. It covers all the food groups and she feels she is getting something special. You can find NATURES SELECT on the web. They have delivery
services just about everywhere.Remember, you get what you pay for.I'm on a limited income,so I'm not buying dog food that is priced outragously. It is a great food to feed my dog,so she stays
healthy and that saves money in tha long run because I don't have to take her to the vet all the time.
