In just about every town there are laws concerning animals.Did you know that you must have apermit to have more than 4 dogs?Did
you know that it is illegal to let your dog run free?Even in your own front yard?I was surprized on that one too.At my daughters home a neighbor called animal controlbecause one of the dogs went
across the street. You must have a license for your dog.You can be fined and worse case scenario, your dog may be seized. In order to obtain a license, you must vaccinate your dog against rabies.Rabies
is a very deadly sickness. It can kill a human in a week. The shots are painful for a human, you can avoid all this by vaccinating your pet.Another great idea is to spay or nueter your pet.I had
Gracie "fixed"for 2 reasons one was that I don't want anymore dogs and 2 I want Gracie to be healthy and by not going into season,I don't have to worry about her taking off to find a dog to mate
with. That is one of the many benefits of "fixxing" your pet.Males will not stry as much as unfixed males will.It may also cut down oncancer, tumors and other reproductive health problems. If you have
a pet,be responsible.Keep your dog on a leash when not at home .It will keep you and your pet safe.I worry about Gracie runnig in front of a car,so she is on a leash for walks and any time we go
somewhere.Be aware of your surrondings,if you run into a stray dog, stay calm,DO NOT RUN,do not look directly at the dog,try and cross he street,or turn around and go the oppasite direction. If you
keep your eyes open you will prbably be able to spot the dog BEFORE he spots you.Keep a cell phone handy.Carry a squirt bottle with you. Most dogs do not like water squirted right in the face.Be
prepared when you take your dog out.

This is
a photo of the dog park where Gracie and I go.It is posted on the outside of the fence by the gate, that you are responsible for your dog. That means if your dog poops, pick it up.Do not expect others
to curb YOUR dog.Another rule is about aggressive dogs, they do not belong at the dog park.If your dog does not play well with others, growls and or shows serious issues with dominance, then yourdog
probably should be taken out of the enclosure.I do not want to hear you say your dog has never bitten anyone,or that you have been to other dog parks and had no problems.I will not believe you,and
you can tell meall you want that your dog does'nt bite, how do I know that.Male dogs, especially those not nuetered, have aggression issues. Not all of them, but yours might if he is attacking other
dogs in an agressive manner.I bring my dog to the dog park for interaction with other dogs,I should not have to worry about your dog hurting mine.My dog is not aggressive, but if she were,we would
NOT be at the dog park.If more than onedog owner approaches you and says something about your dog, take a hint, take your dog out of the dog park.Don't make excuses, why should the other dogs have to
leave because you refuse to be a responsible pet owner. And last, but not least,I will call the SPCA and report you to the proper authorities. On the sign posted next to the gate,it lists the number
to call for problems with aggressive dogs. You and your dog will be reported to the city. And you will be asked not to bring your dog to the dog park.Dogs need socialization, but the minute your dog
tried to bite mine, all bets were off.I am a responsible pet owner,I love my dog and I make sure she behaves in a friendly way, but,I am not going to put my dog at risk of injury or death because you
refuse to control your animal.Do not bring aggressive dogs to a dog park.

I always love my walks with Gracie. But,I would have to say that my favorite time is in the early morning hours, before
the sun comes up.5am is about the best time,it's quiet there is no one out to distract me or Gracie from the walk. And most dogs are either inside or in a backyard,so there is no danger of
getting bit or Gracie getting in a fight.I like the quiet,no traffic, especially on the weekends. It's nice and cool outside,I can think and Gracie can investigate all the street light poles, bushes
and tree trunks.I usually take my time in the mornings,it gives Gracie the chance to do her personal stuff and to find out whose around the nieghborhood as far as dogs. She usually comes back home
ready to take a nap with me.I sleep with my door closed when my roommate is home,so I have Gracie sleeping at the end of the bed. When he's at work, she sleeps out in the living room or in front of
my open door. She sleeps where she is able to guard both te front door and my bedroom door. She is very protective,my roommate can't even get near me when I'm in my room. She parks herself in front of
the bathroom door when I'm in the bathroom.I have to admit, having Gracie makes me feel safe.No one can get near the house without Gracie knowing that they are there. How cool is
that?

I've been ill for the last week or so.I have a liver condition. It is not always easy to have enough energy to do things with
Gracie. She has been great this past week.Guarding me while I sleep, checking on me constantly and just staying near me.She makes my days so much brighter.I have been able to take her out for her
walks the last couple of days.We don't go very far,but she is able to do what she needs to and sniff all the way up and down the streets. She misses nothing.I'm hoping that I will be well enough to
take her to the dog park this weekend. She needs smetime ith other dogs and more room to run.I feel so much better when she is happy. Then we can both come home and sleep the rest of the day
away. It's been 100+ everyday this week.I cannot handle the heat, and Gracie is never eager to go out when it's that hot. So,looks like it will be this weekend.

This time out I want to tell you about some really great treats that I purchased from 2 different places. The first bag is called WAGGING TAILS
and these treats are from duck. They resemble jerky and are in somewhat small pieces. That is my only complaint, the size of the pieces.Gracie loved these treats, probably more than most treats. The
next item is from OL'ROY.And it is in the cannister,26oz of jerky treats made with real beef. They smell good and if I did'nt know they were for dogs,I'd probably be eating them myself. These
treats I tested on Gacie as well as 3 of her doggie friends. The dogs loved them. The last treat in this post is frm NATURESSELECT dog foods. You can find them on the internet and they will deliver
to your front door. The elk jerky is one of the best treats around.Gracie loved them more than any of the other treats .She picked this treat over the rest. They are a dollar a piece, kind of
steep, but Gracie is worth at least 5 of these a week.I always look at the contents of any food I buy.If your not sure what the substance is google it.You'll be surprized to find that it's easy to
make this a habit.I want to know not only what 'm eating but also what I'm giving to Gracie. If you want to give your dog a treat, add a little cottage cheese to the kibble.Your dog will really
thank you for the goodies.
